/As a small business owner, entrepreneur, or side hustler, the idea of growth can feel overwhelming.
It seems like there are a million different strategies and techniques being thrown at you every second. You’re supposed to run a business, manage projects and day-to-day tasks, market through social media and outreach, build email funnels to stay in touch with clients and keep up with professional learning and development.
It’s exhausting.
I get it because I’ve been there.

Instead of trying to do it all, I want you to start small. Read through 3 ideas for business growth to try this week. They don’t take a lot of time or money, but their results will pay big dividends in the long run.
How to Grow Your Business This Week
Ask for Reviews and Testimonials
You have an advantage as a business. Why? Because you KNOW your people. You have relationships with your customers and can ask close friends and family members to help you spread the word about your services. This week, make a point to ask people for reviews and testimonials. Send a quick email to loyal customers and friends with the subject line: “Can I ask a quick favor?” Ask them to take a few minutes to leave you a review on Facebook, Google, or Yelp. Let them know how much their business means to you, and how this small request can help you serve more customers in the future.
Survey Your Customers
Surveys provide businesses with invaluable information they can use to grow and get better. On top of that, they also can provide you with helpful client feedback you can share in your marketing efforts. Your business survey doesn’t have to be complicated. Create a quick survey using SurveyMonkey or TypeForm, input a list of your customer emails, and hit send. If you’re not sure about the questions to use, ask these questions to get started:
“On a scale of zero to ten, how likely are you to recommend our business to a friend or colleague?”
“How can we improve your experience?”
“What do you like most about (company or product name)?”
“What is the one thing we could do to make you happier?”
“What would you like to see more of from our business?”
Set a Meeting with a Coach or Consultant
Here’s the truth. You’re capable of growing your business with no outside help. But it will cost you. It will cost you time that you could be spending serving your customers or being with people you love. It will cost you the money you could be making by having a new set of eyes to find profitable opportunities and cost-savings. And it will cost you an exorbitant amount of your passion and energy. If you’re ready to scale and grow, it’s not a question of if you’re going to have to invest in your business - it’s WHEN. Find a business coach or consultant who you’re interested in working with and set an introductory meeting. Most of the time, these chats are free, and you’ll walk away with clarity regardless of whether you decide to move forward or not.
Don’t let the idea of creating a business growth strategy weigh you down or keep you from moving forward. Start small this week with these ideas and watch the results roll in!
